Buskers and carol singers will relax you into the Xmas shopping mood while the Cafes and Bars are open tempting you in with seasonal sparkle! The unique and diverse Totnes market, packed with an atmospheric and seasonal variety of traders will feature bands, dancers and young local talents from the community. The Spectacular Coleton Fishacre Aglow every Friday, Saturday & Sunday

Explore the garden at Coleton Fishacre as it is aglow with festive light. The streams, beautiful trees and exotic features of the garden will be lit for Christmas in spectacular fashion and the house decorated for a 1920s Christmas party this December. Open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 5.30pm until 10pm.

A walk through the garden during Coleton aglow truly delights. The route weaves between twinkling fairy lights down past the front of the house. In the Rill Garden the stream through the centre of the garden will be filled with light, and the colours of the summer recreated with uplighters. Down through the centre of the garden the ponds and trees will be awash with warm and colourful light, disco balls will glitter in the trees. Every single part of the huge garden is illuminated in a spectacular splash of vibrant colour.

The Exeter Christmas Market – biggest Xmas market in the South West

This year’s Christmas Market will run from Thursday 15th November until Sunday 16th December organised by Exeter Cathedral. The market support local businesses and performers, with an exciting mix of continental and local, independent traders, showcasing the best of festive food, crafts and gifts. The west front bandstand showcases local bands, carol singers and choirs able to bid for free slots to entertain traders and customers. This year promises to be better than ever with great entertainment on stage, more stalls for local businesses and another drinks outlet where visitors can buy mulled wine, mulled cider and last year’s popular mulled apple gin. The event opens at 6pm on Thursday 15th November. The Cathedral Market will then be open every day up to and including Sunday 16 December.

The Unbelievable Dartmouth Steam Railway Train of Lights – various dates

Your truly spectacular illuminated journey starts at Queen’s Park Station, Paignton, where our train with vintage carriages await you – decorated with thousands of lights, both inside and out. Fifteen minutes later, once you’ve had time to settle back into your seat, you will arrive at Churston Station where the show begins. As the anticipation builds and minutes after leaving Churston, you will be propelled through the 450-metre Greenway tunnel that leads you to the enchanted forest which will be transformed by a multitude of lights and feature displays. The breath-taking show ends as you leave the forest only to be greeted by the twinkling lights of Dartmouth reflected on the river Dart. After a turnaround at Kingswear and with the opportunity to disembark and take photographs from the platform, you will be on your way back to Paignton to experience the spectacle from a different direction. Please be aware that there is no Santa on the Train of Lights.

  • 29th & 30th November
  • 1st, 6th, 7th, 8th, 10th, 14th, 16th, 18th-23rd and 27th-30th December
  • Trains depart at  16:45, 18:45 and 20:45 on each of the above dates
